Breaking: Arrest Made in 2013 Gertrude Price Murder

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) Breaking news at this hour. State Police have announced an arrest in the 2013 murder of a 97 year old Luzerne County woman. Gertrude Price was beaten to death in her Nanticoke home.

The I-Team’s Andy Mehalshick is at the state police barracks in Wyoming where Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis announced the arrest of Anthony Spudis for the brutal murder of Gertrude Price

 Investigators say 35 year old Anthony Spudis broke into Price’s East Grand Street home on Thanksgiving night of 2013.

Investigators say Spudis was burglarizing homes in the Nanticoke neighborhood and encountered Price.

He alleged beat and stabbed her.

Salavantis says it took time to gather the evidence to make this arrest.

"After 4 years of the investigation, this morning, thanks to the unending dilliegent work by the Nanticoke City Police, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Luzerne County detectives and prosecutors, we have arrested Anthony Spudis who now stands accused of the murder of Ms. Price"  said D.A. Salavantis.

He will be arraigned at District Judge Don Whitaker’s Court in Nanticoke
