State Police ID Body Found in Wooded Area

FAIRMONT TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV)

Update:  State Police at Shickshinny have released the identity of man whose body was found in a wooded area of  Fairmont Township on Tuesday, Police the body of 37 year old John Brantley of Shickshinny, was found about 300 feet from this residence.  

Police previously responded to the area for a report of a an explosion on Monday-but Brantley's body was not discovered until Tuesday.  State Police say Brantley died as a result from an explosion of an apparent homemade device.  An investigation is continuing,

A day after a large explosion in a rural part of Luzerne County, the body of a man is found.

State Police were on the scene in Sweet Valley, Fairmount Township on Tuesday afternoon.

 They say the man's body was found about 300 yards into the woods off of Bethel Hill Road. Investigators were there Monday after a blast, but the remains weren't discovered until Tuesday.

 Police have not revealed the name of the man who died, and have not said what caused the explosion.
