We have been informed that Blue Ridge has made the decision to drop WBRE’s and WYOU’s out-of-market carriage. We believe Blue Ridge made this decision because Pike county is assigned by the Nielsen Company to the New York Designated Market Area. Therefore, despite the station’s proximity to Pike County, Blue Ridge’s carriage of WBRE and WYOU is optional. While we are constrained by the confidentiality provisions of our agreement with Blue Ridge from stating anything further, please be assured that Nexstar and Blue Ridge do have in place a retransmission consent agreement that allows Blue Ridge to carry WBRE and WYOU on its out of market systems (as your system is), but the decision to do so is solely at Blue Ridge’s discretion.
Notwithstanding Blue Ridge’s decision to discontinue carriage of WBRE and WYOU, WBRE’s and WYOU’s current news and weather information can be obtained via the stations’ affiliated website – www.pahomepage.com.
In addition, WBRE and WYOU remain available to viewers in Pike County via the station’s over-the-air broadcast signal (available at no charge).
