During the summer, they often face blood shortages, so they're putting out an urgent call for blood and platelet donors.
If numbers continue to decline, it could put the American Red Cross in an emergency situation.
Donations are down eight percent over the past eleven weeks, meaning 80 thousand less donors.
A main reason... School is out, which counts for a significant amount of blood collections.
"80 percent of those donors that go to a school drive don't donate and then factor in the July 4th weekend and the way it fell there weren't a lot of blood drives scheduled over that time." said Colin Riccobon of the American Red Cross
