Walkers, Fishermen, and bike riders now have a safer place to park while enjoying the outdoors in one part of Lycoming County. The Hepburn Street River Walk access area in Williamsport is now open to the public. Nearly four hundred thousand dollars of improvements were made to the parking lot along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. They include a newly paved entranceway and a fence to keep visitors away from the nearby railroad tracks. The parking lot holds over ninety cars for those who fish in the river, ride their bikes, or walk on top of the levy for exercise in Williamsport.
The City of Williamsport, the local Joint Rail Authority and the Federal Highway Administration paid for the project. The nearby pump station is still off-limits to the public.
