A Little Love: Meet Mitchell

Mitchell dreams of sharing his passion for technology with a forever family

WILLIAMSPORT, Lycoming County (WBRE/WYOU) -- It's not uncommon for teenagers to plop themselves on the couch and spend hours playing video games.  But what makes Mitchell unique is his desire to build a video game all his own.

Mitchell might only be 13-years-old.  But he has maturity and intelligence beyond his years.

He has been obsessed with technology since kindergarten.  It's a passion he wants to explore with his future family by his side.

"I imagine a family who will take care of me [and] will love me," says Mitchell.

Mitchell is only in eighth grade, but this die-hard Steelers fan is thinking about college right now.

For this week's 'A Little Love,' we visited the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport where star student James is helping Mitchell with his dream of programming his very first video game.

Mitchell wants to work for the best of the best someday.

"Probably for Activision," says Mitchell.  "Probably for Sony or maybe build the PS4s. Maybe even the PS5 or the PS6."

But he's starting with the basics.  The game he's building will work like Pacman.

The character he creates will eat up objects throughout the level to move on. It sounds simple enough.  But making it actually work is where things get difficult.

But after just minutes, Mitchell not only mastered the controls, but was looking at bigger picture.

"Oh my gosh," says Mitchell when he started to see his game come to life.  "I am amazed by this.  I'm really amazed and maybe I want to go here one day and actually teach some kids."

Mitchell thinks about that bigger picture often. And he dreams of sharing his passions with a forever family.

"I always care for family," says Mitchell.  "It doesn't matter what type of family you are.  I will always care for them.  And I will always love you."

Beyond Mitchell's love for video games and beyond his love for the Steelers, finding a forever home is what matters most.

"That's all I need," says Mitchell.  "A loving family."
