Sunday Urgent Care Clinic

Back Mountain Veterinary Hospital is pleased to offer "Sunday Urgent Care" as an alternative to going to the Emergency Clinic for a problem that is not a true emergency. We will have Same-Day Call-Ahead scheduling for non-critical appointments. Calling ahead will alleviate long wait times and will allow you to schedule an appointment at your convenience, so you can still enjoy part of your day or tackle parts of the To-Do List that we all have for Sundays. Non-critical health problems include, but are not necessarily limited to:

Skin Infections

Bladder Infections
(if unable to urinate, take to ER)

Ear Infections

Dental Infections

Eye Infections

Vomiting or Diarrhea from dietary indiscretion ie. stealing table food, getting into the garbage, or eating grass (if you saw or suspect your pet ate a toy, socks, underwear, etc. please take to ER)

Limping (not suspected to be a broken bone)

Torn toe nails or MINOR lacerations

What we will not be seeing are any health problems that require critical care, oxygen therapy, or anesthesia for treatment and/or surgery. Those are TRUE EMERGENCY situations and should go immediately to the local Emergency Hospital, either in Plains or Clarks Summit. True Emergencies include but again are not limited to:

Hit By Car

Respiratory Distress (choking/labored breathing/white or blue gums or tongue)

Acute Vomiting (Unable to hold down food or water)

Broken bones

Deep Punctures or Lacerations

Ingestion of Poison

Ingestion of Controlled Substances or Human Medications

Seizures

Loss of consciousness

If you are unsure if your particular health concern qualifies as an emergency, please give us a call. Walk-ins will be seen as time permits, but preference will be given to those with scheduled appointments. Sunday appointments are reserved for Urgent Care. Please schedule routine exams, vaccine appointments, drug monitoring blood work, nail trims and suture/staple removal during regular hours. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 7:30 pm and Saturdays 8:30 am to 5:00 pm for your convenience. You do not have to be an established client to be seen on a Sunday, nor do you have switch vets. The records from your pet's Sunday appointment will be faxed to your regular veterinarian the next day for follow-up care and consistent health care record-keeping.
