There are a number of events going on this weekend and in the days ahead!  Enjoy! Remember more events can also be found on the Calendar of Events or under our Community Link.
 Saturday-June 28 and Sunday June 29 2014

 * The American Power Boat Association, Berwick Area Boat Club and the Berwick Area United Way are hosting the first Berwick Area Regatta.  The event is exciting outboard boat racing on the Susquehanna River at Test Track Riverfront Park in Berwick PA on June 28 and 29th from 10 am – 5pm.  Along with the boat racing there will be a carnival with food, rides, and games for all ages Saturday and Sunday 9am - 7pm.  Parking is $5.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
* The Murgas Amateur Radio Club will be demonstrating Amateur Radio at 
Frances Slocum State Park, (in Pavilion 1, Right turn at the park office) on June 28th and 29th. On- air operations will begin Saturday at 2:00PM and conclude Sunday at 2:00PM. 
This annual event, called "Field Day" is the climax of the week long "Amateur Radio Week" sponsored 
by the ARRL, the national association for Amateur Radio.

 The First Annual Bow Wow Bike Jam will be held on Saturday, June 28th.  The Proceeds will benefit Safe Haven Rescue and the Sanctuary at Haafsville.  The event will be held  at Indian Trail Park, 3821 Lehigh Drive, Northampton. 
Registration begins 11-1. Kickstands up at 1 PM. $500 to high poker hand. Music for the event will be  by The Cherry Bombs.  Food and Drinks will be available. Everyone welcome including pets.
 Tickets are $20.00 in advance, and $25.00 the day of the event.

*Strawberry Social June 28 4PM to 7PM Saturday evening. Centenary United Methodist Church 24 North Main Street Ashley. Event being held in the church Fellowship Hall. Menu includes Hot Dogs, Porketta, Picnic Salads, Beverages and Strawberry Shortcake.

*Do-si-do  with your partner, allemande Left with your corner, and promenade back home! Contra  Dance will take place on Saturday, June 28th from 7:30 to 10:00pm at The Cooperage, 1030 Main Street in Honesdale. Contra dancing is energetic, fun, and a great way to build friendships and create community.

 On-Going Exhibits
*The 41st season of the Wilkes-Barre Farmers Market will be open on Public Square at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014. The market, held every Thursday through November 20th, will bring together many community groups through special programming and events.
* The free Wheelchair Engineers program at the Columbia Mall near
Bloomsburg, with its handicapped-accessible model train layouts, will
be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and every Saturday at the Sears 
end of the mall. 
 The Bloomsburg University Archives’ latest exhibit, Treasures from the Archives Featuring Bloomsburg University, 1983-2014, contains many items, including photographs and artifacts, evoking the university’s progress since the July 1, 1983, establishment of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The exhibit will be on display, free of charge, through Sept. 12 in Andruss Library, third floor.
* The Luzerne County Historical Society currently has twenty historic quilts on display at their Museum at 69 South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre. The quilts, from the Society’s collections, include many patterns, types and sizes from the nineteenth and early twentieth century. These handmade quilts have been collected by the Society over the years.

Also on display is the exhibit She Rolled Up Her Sleeves: Luzerne County’s Women at Work which focuses on the unsung heroines of our history—the women who worked hard but never get any credit. Located at 69 South Franklin Street (behind the Osterhout Library) the Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 2:00 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children, and free for Historical Society members. Both exhibits will remain on display through August 31, 2014.
 *The Downtown Shenandoah Open Air Farm Market will launch its 2014 season June 20 along the first block of South Main Street, east side, near the more than century-old Bolich & Burke building.
Regional growers will offer produce, fruits, plants and other items from about 7:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the growing season and into the fall.

*Sour Bridges is returning to Honesdale!  On Saturday, July 5th, the band will be at The Cooperage, located at 1030 Main Street in Honesdale! There will be chairs around the room for the listening crowd, but most of the floor space is reserved for a footloose hootenanny! The show starts at 8:00pm, doors open at 7:30pm. BYOB. Donations collected at the door. The Cooperage is operated by the The Cooperage Project, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to build community through performance, learning and good times. *The Murgas Amateur Radio Club will also hold it's 34th Annual Hamfest, (an electronics flea market and convention of radio enthusiasts) on Sunday July 6th at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds in Lehman. The public is also invited to attend, although there will be an admission charge for the Hamfest. Gates open at 8AM, rain or shine.  The Hamfest concludes around Noon.

*The 6th Annual Olyphant Queen City Nights  Picnic on July 10, 11 and 12th  2014 !!!! * The Public Library for Union annual used book sale is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16 through Saturday, July 19 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg. More than 40,000 sorted hardcover, paperback, audiobooks and vintage books, as well as CDs and DVDs are available for purchase. Selections are refreshed daily.  A food stand is open daily and the church is air-conditioned and handicap accessible.
The hours for the sale will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, July 16-17; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 18; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19.

*On Wednesday, July 16, the Lackawanna Historical Society will host local author Barbara J. Taylor for a program and book signing for her new novel, Sing in the Morning, Cry at Night. The program will begin at 7 p.m. at the Catlin House, 232 Monroe Avenue, Scranton.
*St. John Vianney Parish will host their 5th annual summer Rummage and Bake Sale at Corpus Christi Church, 704 Montdale Road, Scott Twp. The sale will be held Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13. Doors will be open Friday July 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday July 12 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday July 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale, filling 6,000 square feet, will include clothing, children’s toys, household items, books and furniture. All proceeds benefit St. John Vianney Parish. 
*If you are looking for an evening filled with fun, food, entertainment, pick up your phone and make your reservations for the Pike County Chamber’s Comedy Night!  You are certain to have fun and laughs with two top Comedian’s  Brian Cichocki and Sandy Marks who have performed on HBO and in Caroline’s, Dangerfield’s, Comix, Jester’s, Vegas, Atlantic City, Paris and even Amsterdam.

*An ice cream social, sponsored by First National Bank to benefit the revitalization group Downtown Shenandoah Inc. and Pottsville-based Avenues, is set for 5 to 8 p.m. July 23 at Mountain Valley Golf Course, Barnesville.  There will be an auction of items, including the first six quarts made of Yuengling Ice Cream Black and Tan. The cartons are numbered and were donated by Yuengling for the fundraiser. . The cost to attend the is $10.  DSI is leading the Shenandoah downtown revitalization effort and Avenues, formerly United Cerebral Palsy, supports people with special needs.  Avenues also runs Expressions, a thrift/gift shop at 112-114 N. Main St., Shenandoah. It carries multiple items including clothing, accessories, housewares, furniture, DVDs, CDs, movies, decorations, new gifts and other fare.

*It will be Christmas in July on Sunday, July 20 at Pocono Mountain Harley Davidson, 4300 Manor Drive/off Route 33, Stroudsburg. Boomer's Angels Pet Rescue will be there from 11-3 to show off their beautiful dogs available for loving homes! Give a homeless pet a new forever home for Christmas!
