The Wayne County Food Pantry Program recently received $4,500 from PPL Corporation. The funding will support the Pantry’s monthly food distribution to the community.
“Food access is a vital and basic need in our community,” said Paul Canevari, regional affairs director for the Pocono region. “PPL is pleased to provide this funding which will enable more of our neighbors to provide meals for their families and children.”
The Wayne County Food Pantry Program helps about 550 households each month with a bag or box of food to help stretch limited household budgets.
A monthly food bag usually contains a variety of household foods such as canned fruit, vegetables, meats and spaghetti.
There are five pantry location sites, in Damascus, Honesdale, Lakeville, Lakewood and Newfoundland.
Employees interested in becoming involved with the food pantry can call 570-253-4262 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or send mail to Wayne County Food Pantry, 323 10th St., Honesdale PA 18431.
