A $250 Instrumental Honor Award and $250 Vocal Honor Award were also available for a graduating senior. This year’s awards went to Bergen Price, a senior from Pocono Mountain East High School. Bergen was also the first recipient of a Suzanne Anderson Scholarship, recently established by the late Ms. Anderson to honor a graduating senior who is going on to study music in college. Her award was presented at the recent Spring for the Arts Gala sponsored by the Pocono Arts Council.
Additional 2014 Youth in Music Excellence Award Winners were:
JUNIOR INSTRUMENTAL: Vincent Grados and Emily Peck, J.T. Lambert Intermediate School; Nia Esposito, homeschooled; and Anthony Nostro, Notre Dame Elementary.
JUNIOR ENSEMBLE: Notre Dame Elementary School Orchestra
JUNIOR VOCAL: Tyler-Sofia Thompson, Notre Dame Elementary; and Abigail Thornton, Stroudsburg Junior High.
SENIOR INSTRUMENTAL: Cathy Li, Delaware Valley High School; and Bergen Price, Pocono Mountain East High School
SENIOR ENSEMBLE: Christina Huddleston & Kiley Sileikis, Baritone Sax & Piccolo, East Stroudsburg High School North.
SENIOR VOCAL – POPULAR DIVISION: Adriana Negron, Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Arts; and Bergen Price, Pocono Mountain East High School
SENIOR VOCAL – CLASSICAL DIVISION: Steven Viscelia, Stroudsburg High School.
The Pocono Arts Council is a local arts service organization serving Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties.
