The Mount Carmel Borough Police Community Day is both a festival and a community information day for residents and visitors. On the agenda a number of fun things to do alongside a large group of local and state groups providing information on their programs.
The giant community shredding truck will be on site accepting residential paperwork for shredding, free of charge, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
The State Farm Drunk Driving Simulator will be part of the days activities, as will Judge, the Arson Dog from the Allentown Fire Department. Both will be part of the celebration thanks to State Farm.
Some of participants include: Smokey the Bear, the PA Game Commission, the Mount Carmel Elks, Lions, and Rotary/Interact Club, Mount Carmel Downtown, Inc., the PA Attorney General's Office, the PA Liquor Control Board, the Red Cross, the Pennsylvania State Police Montoursville and Harrisburg Barracks, Kingdom Kidz, Northumberland Area on Aging, PA Department of Health, Grace United Church, Northumberland/Montour County Drug Task Force, Mount Carmel Emergency Response Team, Geisinger Health Plan, Coventry/HealthAmerica, Transitions, PennDOT, Northumerland County Emergency Management, Victim Assistance, CareerLink Get 2 Work Program, Keystone Shredding ID Theft Prevention.
There will also be a display of area emergency vehicles and equipment, and free fingerprinting for kids with give-aways (while supplies last).
Plenty to see and do for the young and young at heart: A petting zoo, pony rides, a bounce slide, Games 2 U will have giant people-sized hampster balls (from 10-noon), and games for the kids.

Here's what's on the menu-.chicken fingers, fresh cut fries, funnel cakes, deep fried Oreos, fresh squeezed lemonade and orangeade, snow cones, cotton candy, Pucker Powder candy art, steakburgers, sausage sandwiches, potato cakes, stuffed cabbage, porkette, pierogies, haluski, gyros, pizza, traveling tacos, ice cream, and drinks.
Bill 95 radio will be broadcasting live from Town Park from 10 to noon and then DJ friend Mike will be taking over to keep things festive. Since next week is National Police Memorial Week, before closing the festival organizers will have a short memorial service to remember law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.
