Setzer and The Appalachian Mountain Boys combine traditional bluegrass, country and gospel music with a sound all their own. Blending four part harmony including driving banjo, country fiddle, Monroe-style mandolin and walking bass, in addition to Louie’s dynamic lead vocals & driving guitar playing, The Appalachian Mountain Boys sound can best be described as Hard- Drivin’ Honky-Tonk, giving their audiences, a show that will be hard to forget.
Louie Setzer is a true “Bluegrass Legend” who has been performing for over 45 years and is no stranger to NEPA. Known as “The man with Titanium Tonsils”, Louie is a premier vocalist with a unique vocal styling, heavily influenced by first generation masters Jimmy Martin and Mac Wiseman. Louie breathes new life into tunes old and new in a way that sets him apart from the rest.
“I don't really know what made me go to my first Bluegrass Festival, says Louie Setzer, “but I did.” After the festival, he had caught the Bluegrass “bug.” Setzer adds “ I was so impressed with the fact that there were No Electric instruments and the Harmony singing Blew me away. Then I started traveling all over just to find anything to do with Bluegrass.”
Joining Setzer at the Cooperage on March 15th is Jeff Propert who will be playing various string instruments, Ron Penska on the Upright Bass, David Cavage on Banjo and Joe Fili playing the Fiddle.
