Know the Warning Signs of Autism- Program to be Held

A free presentation on Autism will be held on Monday, April 28 at the Saints Anthony and Rocco Parish Hall.  The Hall is located on 122 Kurtz Street in Dunmore.   The program will be presented by   Dave and Cheryl Shimkosky
Dave Shimkosky has a Masters Degree in secondary education, with extensive coursework in  Applied Behavior Analysis, and has worked in alternative education settings with individuals exhibiting problem behavior, and as a Therapeutic Staff Support with children with autism.  Dave is
currently a Behavior Consultant at New Story in Throop, developing treatment plans for
individuals with autism and other disabilities.  
Cheryl Shimkosky has a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Penn State; M.Ed. in Reading, King's College,  with extensive coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis from Penn State
University.  She has 15 Years as a special education teacher and previous experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental delays through Keystone Community Resources and Scranton Counseling Center.  
Dave and Cheryl have 2 children; one was diagnosed with severe autism at 25 months.  Both are active in the special needs community and have attended various trainings on autism and caring for individuals with autism.
