Greenhouse Project: Garden Party and Salsa Competition

Scranton, Lackawanna County- The Greenhouse project is hosting a Garden party on Thursday August 14th, at Jack’s Draft House (801 Prescott Avenue, Scranton, PA) for a Garden Party. The party will get underway at 5:30 pm and go to 7:30 pm  A variety of ethnic foods, appetizers made from locally grown ingredients, salsa tasting and best salsa competition, raffle baskets and cash bar will be available! 
   The event will benefit Laurie’s Community Garden, operated by the Greenhouse Project, is located on the corner of Vine and N. Irving Streets in the Hill Section of Scranton.  The community garden works to bring neighbors together in learning and applying the concepts of organic gardening, nutrition and environmental education.  It’s a unique community asset working to make use of vacant land and increase neighbor involvement.

  Proceeds also fund an annual fall Harvest Day; a free day of games, scarecrow building and arts and crafts developed to teach children about gardening, the harvest season and healthy snacks.
 Join the Greenhouse Project and carry on the mission and efforts of Laurie’s Community Garden while enjoying delicious food and great company!  Tickets can be purchased at The Greenhouse Project, located in Nay Aug Park, and at Duffy Accessories, 218 Linden St. Scranton, or by using the contact information listed below. (Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door)!
Fresh Salsa Competition.  Enter Your Salsa to Win. 
You must register your entry in the Salsa Competition by emailing or calling 570-351-1822 by August 11th, 2014 at 5 pm.  Entries must submit One Quart of homemade salsa with ingredients list to be able to win Best in Salsa Prize.  Must deliver salsa to event at Jacks Draft House between 5:00 and 5:15 pm on August 14th.
