National Wear Red Day was started in 2003 by the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to take action against a disease that was claiming the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year. Wearing red brings heart health awareness to the forefront especially as a disease that kills more women than all forms of cancer combined.
Throughout the month of February, Evangelical will be holding events and screenings addressing heart health as part of its Rock Red for Healthy Hearts initiative. All of the events are open to the public and community members are encouraged to take part in the free and low-cost screenings that are part of Rock Red.
For more information on screenings, assessments, and heart health learning opportunities including a Talk with the Doc Heart Health Panel discussion February 27th, contact Community Health Education at 570-768-3200.
