Donation the Lt. Cleary Foundation

WILKES-BARRE - Partial proceeds from the recent Charlie Daniels Band/Marshall Tucker Band concert on May 30 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre Twp. were donated on Tuesday, July 8th to the 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund of The Luzerne Foundation. Concert promoter Willjam Productions donated partial proceeds from the event. Additional funds were received through an event sponsorship from NBT Bank and donations collected by event partners Quaker Steak and Lube, Noto’s Harley-Davidson/Electric City Harley-Davidson and SMG Management at Mohegan Sun Arena. The sum of the partial proceeds, event sponsorship and donations received were a total of $4,144.06.
The primary purpose of the First Lieutenant Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund is to preserve the legacy of First Lieutenant Michael J. Cleary U.S. Army killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom III on December 20, 2005. The First Lieutenant Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund honors Mike’s benevolent spirit of service to this nation and to his community. The funds emphasis is on families who have been irrevocably affected by the injury or loss of a loved one in military service, and to charitable organizations, programs, and causes which best represent Mike’s commitment to service.
