Children’s Service Center (CSC), in collaboration with WilkesBarre Racing for a Home, Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network and SWAN Older Child Matching Initiative, will host an adoption matching event on Saturday, May 3rd from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
This family friendly event is free and will be held at the Triton Hose Company No. 1,
Station 7, 116 West Tioga Street in Tunkhannock.
Biographies of the children waiting for adoption will be displayed, and representatives from
various adoption agencies will be present to answer questions.
"Foster care adoption through the Pennsylvania Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network
provides the option for families to provide loving, permanent homes to waiting children with
special needs,” said Rebecca Nallon, adoption program supervisor. “It's a magical feeling when
parents and children are brought together through the adoption process. Adopting within the
state is a great way for families to grow without the financial burden that accompanies infant and
international adoption. We encourage families to come to our adoption matching event to see
what the process is all about. Additionally, we look forward to answering any questions about the
adoption process during the event."
"I feel that adoption is a wonderful decision that we as a family have made,” said K.W., who
adopted her children through CSC’s adoption program. Getting to know a child and bring that
child up as your own is very fulfilling. Going ahead with our third adoption now, we have found the
process to be very smooth and have had much help from the agencies involved. I think that the
best part is when the child starts calling us mom and dad; you know that you are making a
difference in his/her life."
For more information or to register, please call Rebecca Nallon at 570-825-6425,
ext. 532. It is highly recommended to RSVP by Friday, April 25th. CSC is a grantee of the Dave Thomas
Foundation for Adoption’s Signature Program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids.
