The first, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 26, is a collaboration with Pizza Phi in Lewisburg. A portion of the proceeds between 5 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. at Pizza Phi will be donated to the Bucknell Brigade. Interested participants can eat in, take out, or have their meal delivered. Pizza Phi is located at 316 Market St.; call 570-523-1116.
The second fundraiser is a yard sale, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, in the South Ward parking lot, located on Blackberry Alley between St. George and St. Catherine streets in Lewisburg. Yard sale hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include sales of Mr. Sticky's sticky buns.
"We have received donations from community members, students and their parents, and Bucknell faculty and staff," said Jenna Weaver, Bucknell Brigade intern. "The support we have received so far is amazing and I hope that this event will continue for many more years."
The Brigade will collect donations at the South Ward parking lot on Saturday, March 1, and Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Contact Weaver at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance in picking up donations or for more information about these events.
All proceeds will be donated to a free health clinic in Nueva Vida, Nicaragua, a resettlement community outside the capital city of Nicaragua. The health clinic was largely built by donations raised by the Bucknell Brigade and still operates on these donations.
Delegations of students and staff bring donated medicines, inventory supplies in the pharmacy, and assist with manual labor on projects identified by the Center for Development in Central America, the host agency, while learning about micro-enterprise initiatives, grass roots development, the history, and culture of Nicaragua.
