Bill Maher sets sights on F.M. Kirby Center

Buckle up!  It was announced today that America's favorite "equal opportunity offender," Bill Maher, will visit the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for this one-night-only event go on sale this Thursday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased at the Kirby Center Box Office, online at or by phone at (570) 826-1100.

A special Kirby Member Pre-Sale begins on Monday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m.
For the last 18 years, Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television.  First on “Politically Incorrect” (Comedy Central) and for the last seven years on HBO’s “Real Time,” Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him 21 Emmy nominations.

In addition to his television program – which has featured such regular visitors as John Edwards, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Arianna Huffington, Alec Baldwin and Michael Moore – Maher has written four bestsellers: “True Story,” “Does Anybody Have a Problem with That?  Politically Incorrect’s Greatest Hits”, “When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Bin Laden”, “New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer” and most recently “The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody but Me Has Their Head Up Their A--."

Maher started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1979, and still performs at least 50 dates a year in Las Vegas and in sold out theaters all across the country.
Two of Maher’s nine stand-up specials for HBO – 2007’s “The Decider” and 2005’s “I’m Swiss” – have been nominated for Emmy awards.  His most recent stand-up special for HBO was the hilarious, “Bill Maher But I’m Not Wrong."
