Six members of the Valley Regional Warriors 18U Class A softball team that recently captured the prestigious Jersey Outlaw college showcase will continue their illustrious softball careers at Pennsylvania colleges.

Now in its fourth year of existence, the Warriors Showcase team continues to excel by attracting college-caliber talent from regional high schools. This year's squad went 3-0 in Sunday play to capture the Black Division of the Jersey Outlaw college showcase.

“It was a great team effort," said Warriors head coach Ray Letcher. "We got excellent pitching from Crestwood's Alyssa Davies and Marian Catholic's Bethany Shaud along with some outstanding fielding and timely hitting.”
The Warrior Showcase organization had already assisted seven players with the transition to college ball in Pennsylvania and Maryland. This year's squad will send off a half dozen more.

The six college-committed players are Nicole Cumbo of Wyoming Area (Wilkes University), Alyssa Davies of Crestwood (Bloomsburg University), Stephanie Killian of Nativity BVM HS (Penn State Schuylkill Campus), Erin Luckinbill of Nativity BVM HS (Immaculata University), Vanessa Michaels of Bloomsburg HS (Elizabethtown College), and Lindsay Nemeth of Marian Catholic (Bloomsburg University).

Their teammate, Megan Grozier, was a member of the Central Columbia Lady Bluejays softball team that captured this year's PIAA AA softball state championship.

The Warriors, who annually play in three fall and seven summer showcases, will be holding tryouts for the 2014-'15 team this August at Freedom Park in Drums and at Marian Catholic High School in Hometown.  For more information, contact head coach Ray Letcher at 570-401-7173 or esprit_de_corps@verizon.net.  You can also see the team in action when they host their first annual college showcase on July 19th-20th at Freedom Park in Drums.  Check their website at www.valleyregionalsoftball.com/warriors-18u.html for more information.
